Russia Offers to Sell Powerful Air-Defense System to Iran
Russian arms manufacturer says no decision taken yet by Islamic Republic/ MOSCOW—Russia has offered to sell a powerful air-defense system to Iran, in place of an earlier version, whose sale was dropped under U.S. and Israeli pressure, the head of the state defense holding said. Rostec chief Sergei Chemezov said Tehran was considering Russia’s offer to supply Antey-2500 anti-ballistic missile systems, after a 2007 contract to supply the less-advanced S-300 system was canceled by the Kremlin in 2010.
