Iran: Poet Released After Multiple Arrests. Activist Teacher Released After Hunger Strike
Keyvan Mehregan, the Iranian poet, journalist and filmmaker, was released from Evin Prison on Wednesday May 11. Mehregan's wife, Afsaneh Parchekani, reports that the prosecutor and the judge agreed to a conditional release for her husband, who had been on a furlough. Mehregan was arrested last September to serve out a one-year sentence in connection with his journalistic activities with the Shargh daily.
