A book signing and reception in the atrium will follow the conversation. Published by HarperCollins, the 336-page book will be on sale at the Cobber Bookstore and at the event.
Saberi’s book is a description of the freelance journalist’s four-month imprisonment in Iran, which made headlines around the world. She was released from Evin Prison May 11, 2009. The 1997 Concordia graduate writes of the ordeal, her faith, and the struggles of her fellow prisoners, many jailed for their pursuit of human rights.
Saberi moved to Iran seven years ago to learn more about the country where her father was born. The dual American and Iranian national worked as a freelance journalist for major news organizations, including National Public Radio, ABC News and the British Broadcasting Corp. After the Iranian government revoked her press credentials in early 2009, Saberi stayed in Iran to write a book about her experiences.
