The Open Society Fellowship program hosts a discussion on new media in authoritarian societies. John Kelly, founder of Morningside Analytics, will talk about the emerging networked public sphere and present his maps of online social networks in Iran, Egypt, Russia and China.
Other panelists will include Open Society Fellow Evgeny Morozov, who is writing a book on the Internet in authoritarian countries, Ethan Zuckerman, a Berkman Center fellow, whose work focuses on the impact of technology on the developing world, and Porochista Khakpour, an Iranian-American writer who will talk about how the Iranian diaspora uses the Internet.
The panel will be moderated by Darius Cuplinskas, director of the OSI Information Program.
A light breakfast will be provided.
