Magnitude-5.5 quake hits Iran; no report of damage, injuries
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran says a magnitude-5.5 earthquake has jolted a sparsely populated district some 800 kilometers (497 miles) southeast of Tehran. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Iran's semi-official ISNA news agency says the quake struck around 2:56 p.m. Friday (1126 GMT) with an epicenter in the town of Sirch.
